Missouri fountain grove waterfowl

Fountain Grove Missouri MAHA waterfowl hunting is near the town of Meadville within Linn County Missouri highlighted on the map at right. The Fountain Grove reference is for the nearby Missouri State developed and operated Fountain Grove Wildlife Area that is inclusive of a large public waterfowl hunting wetlands.

Total acreage, 850.
Wetlands floodable acreage, 245.
Six separate water structures.

One hundred thirty of the floodable acreage is drained on demand to allow milo, millet and smart weed growth, flooded again on demand for duck season.

Multiple blinds, some wade-in areas well suited and often used by those wanting to work their dogs from shore and a layout boat area for the few that take this extra effort.

This picture gives the idea of our spacing. That small spot in the distance right of center is the blind.

The maps issued to Association waterfowl hunters is more detailed with highway numbers, road names and a detailed county map along with written descriptions of how to get to the wetlands. We do not post that information on the web site as trespass prevention. This diagram is intended to give the reviewer an idea of the wetlands layout. It is not draw to scale, just drawn as best as we could.

The water is 12 to 36 inches deep and that with some soft soil conditions makes chest waders a required item.

This area of the wetlands has very good water vegetation and the shooting pool alone is within approximately 20 acres of surface water.

It faces southwest with a good view of the ducks traveling to and from the Missouri State operated Fountain Grove Wildlife Area on Parsons Creek.

Duck blind pictures numbered 1, 2 3 and 4 are the same blind pictured at different times.

At this point, pictures 1 and 2, the wetlands is about half filled with water.

Parson's creek divides this 200 acre wetland into 3 separate pools. This blind is one of several blinds on the east marsh covered with rippy grass and pin oak limbs.

As a crow flies, the Fountain Grove Wildlife Area is 3 1/2 miles south of this property.

The variance in vegetation reflects the alternating years of draining and planting vice retention for natural growth.
