More than ducks....Mid-America Hunting Association duck hunting dates back to the 1980's when the current owner/operator, Jon Nee, purchased the Association from the original owners that started the Association as an upland bird hunting club back in 1965. For many waterfowl hunters the chance to duck hunt privately managed wetlands is enough hunt for one season. Those duck hunters with dogs seek more than just ducks.

It is very common for the majority of the waterfowl members with dogs to hunt the early dove and teal seasons to satisfy the need to value their dog on retrieves. Then, while waiting for the peak waterfowl migration that has come as early as the third week in November and as late as the third week in December, the same duck hunters take their dogs to flush pheasants and those with versatile pointing dogs add quail to the seasonal hunts.

Once peak migration hits so do vacation days and these duck hunters are back in the blind with trim, in shape dogs. Hunting the duration of the migration peak typically satisfies most with all the waterfowl they would like and it is back to the pheasant tall grass fields or the crop edge for quail the remaining of the January seasons.

The versatile dog hunter can add Kansas fall turkey hunts to the list of available dog on bird hunts permissible in state regulations and Association rules. The dog hunter that hunts fall turkey, duck, goose, pheasant and quail is rare to the point not one Mid-America Hunting Association member has yet attained that level of dog training. This is one example of how the hunting opportunities we provide exceed what hunters have the energy to achieve. That is also a rare point within the hunting community.
