Combination Duck Hunts Duck hunters are not limited to duck hunts. Everyone may hunt as often as they like for all the game they want. These hunters had a banner day tagging a buck and ducks on the same day. This is not as typical as a combination upland and waterfowl hunt on the same trip.
Several of our wetlands hold deer population as these areas become sanctuaries protected by water barriers. Our wetlands are closed to all hunting other than waterfowl.
Most of our wetlands transition from duck predominate to goose attracting crop fields. A mixed duck and goose bag is likely.
The picture above is before flooding after the Japanese Millet has grown up and while we are brush cutting open shooting pools in front to the blinds. The picture below is from during the season. Our wetlands require much labor throughout the year. So much that we have one of our three land managers dedicated to wetlands management. Mixing Smart Weed and Japanese Millet with controlled water level management is the ideal combination to produce a successful duck season.
The results of our association's wetlands and habitat development programs. This area looks much different with water added. |
