Big Creek A Wetlands Detail

Big Creek wetlands north and south.

Our wetlands are pictured at the bottom of the picture the rest is just to show this entire area has large standing and moving water that combined with the crop ground attracts many ducks. Thanks to member Dan R., for the airplane ride and picture.

The slough in the aerial above.

A picture of some of the behind the scenes aspects of our wetlands. The south levee in Henry C. It was quite the project.
Over 1/4 of a mile long. Its value is not just water level retention that supports duck attracting death and vegetation it also prevents storm surge damage.

It is the details as seen of this low water level pipe that makes the wetlands as good as they are during the season. This system shown allows for use of "free" water delivered by nature as the first means of re-flooding the wetlands before waterfowl season after the summer growing season. If the free water does not arrive then we pump at cost to this membership organization. The end result is water at the right time, at the right level.
