John Wenzel

MAHA and specifically Jon Nee and Bruce Johnson has been in the duck business for a long time. While the Association has been building wetlands from the 1960's the past 25 years and all current wetlands have been designed, built and supervised directly by Jon Nee and Bruce Johnson. Both of these gentlemen have a passion for duck hunting that motivates the extra effort to tweak all the variables to make for the best possible hunting. This includes water level controls both inflow and outflow, planting, brush and tree cutting, dirt work and blind placement. There is a lot of pride in this effort.

As we have three states to select from where to spend the majority of our effort we choose Missouri due to its topography of the lower Missouri River Basin and large amount of standing water. While our Missouri wetlands are officially part of the Mississippi Flyway we draw ducks from the central flyway as well that follow the Missouri River. With the right water level in the wetlands, the food and open water placement with blind posted when the migration is on we have ducks.

Overall you will find the Association staff from the secretary through the owner involved directly with the operation of the Association and out on the land 12 months of the year. Their motivation is to ensure all have such a good hunt they will want to com back and renew their membership for years to come.

One of our wetlands in late summer. In the case of this wetlands it was during the skip year for draining and planting. On this pool the blind on the far side accessible by a trail through the woods is the only blind.

Contact

We try to answer the telephones from 9 to 9 on most days. While that is the goal the reality is that we are out on a good many field days each week either working current or potential lease land contracts and that necessitates the cellular telephone that works great when it does and it doe not always work. In any case we always return our messages and we will talk to those that want to talk to us.

Email

Emails are always answered and a good way to get directions to specific links within this 500+ page website.

How To Hunt With Us

The first step is to look over your primary and secondary hunting interest within this website to develop your question list. have a read some of the testimonials within each of those sections as well as the rules. Once through all that the next step is for us to have a telephone conversation where we will ensure what we offer is what you think it is and if we can work together. If so then it is just a matter of payment, sending in the release of liability form and receiving the membership materials. once the hunter has his maps in his hands it is a lot easier to talk about where to go hunting.

It is always good to study ducks. Part of one of our flooded sloughs that floods out to crop ground after the regular duck and during late goose.

Hunter Pressure

How many pay to hunt organizations openly provide hunter pressure statistics? We do as they are good for the hunter. That being good means all can have the goose and  duck hunting they desire which brings our hunters back for years of membership.
